> Biography
Dr. Carolyn Daitch received her doctorate from the University of Michigan and has been a fully licensed psychologist in private practice for over 26 years. She completed training at the Cleveland Gestalt Institute and is a certified Imago Relationship therapist. For 15 years, Dr. Daitch has been the director of the Center for the Treatment of Anxiety Disorders in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Her time is split between clinical practice, supervision, consultation and teaching. She is a consultant with the University of Michigan’s School of Medicine’s Department of Complementary and Alternative Research, and the University of Michigan's program of Integrative Medicine. She frequently presents to health professionals, as well as to medical students at the University of Michigan and Wayne State University. Dr. Daitch has been training psychotherapists for over twenty years. To date, she has been invited to train professionals in over 30 locations in 6 countries. She is consistently a top-rated presenter at national and international conferences including the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the International Council of Psychologists. Dr. Daitch is a certified and approved consultant with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the educational chair for the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. She received the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis President’s award for “teaching, writing, and clinical wisdom” in 2006, and a special achievement award from the Michigan Society of Clinical Hypnosis for “outstanding clinical and teaching contributions in the field of hypnosis and psychology.” She is a member of the Board of Governors for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, co-chair of scientific workshops for the 2005 annual meeting, and co-chair of the advanced workshops for the 2007 joint meeting of ASCH and SCEH. Dr. Daitch currently serves as the chair of education for the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and she has been elected to the ASCH Executive Committee: Member-at-large, Psychology.. Dr. Daitch is the author of the recently published book, Affect Regulation Tool Box: Practical and Effective Hypnotic Interventions for the Over-reactive Client (2007), a professional guide to practical focusing techniques. She draws on her 26 years of clinical experience to present 32 hypnotic tools in her book. She has also developed several CD self-hypnosis programs, which have been well-received by clinicians and patients alike: these include Managing the Distress of Cancer and its Treatment, The Insomnia Solution, Dialing Down Anxiety, Stress Reduction, and Theta Sailing II. Bellaruth Naperstak, L.I.S.W., a world-renowned expert in guided visualization, recommends the audio program in her series and has included Dr. Daitch in “Practitioners We Love,” her selected list of professional resources.
